NBC Bans Wizkid's 'The Matter' And Phyno's 'Man Of The Year

It is only in Nigeria that a song is banned after it has become a household song.
Wizkid's 'The matter' which contains lyrics like "... 20 man shall fall that day if you cross my lane ... Oya back to the matter open and close..." was considered explicit by NBC.
Also Phyno's Man of the year which has lyrics like "...oburu na okwero iba tee ya vaseline(if e no gree enter apply vaseline)..." was also considered explicit.
Thus, both songs were banned from Radio air play by NBC.

Nigerian Broadcasting Commission has banned Wizkid’s Back to the matter and Phyno’s Man of the year. BeatFM OAP Gbemi Olateru Olagbegi reported this when she tweeted about it. In the past the commision had banned May-D’s Soundtrack, Maye Hunta’s Ekatte, Femi Kuti’s Bang Bang Bang due their suggestive lewd lyrical content.

What Is The Difference Between An Errand Boy & This Police Officer?***

***WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN ERRAND BOY & THIS POLICE OFFICER?***

Nigeria is a crazy zone: We have crude oil but we can't refine petroleum products for our local consumption, in the last 15 years. In 1961, Nigeria was responsible for 42 percent of groundnut export in the world, but today our country Nigeria is not exporting even 5 percent groundnut. In 1999, when Obasanjo came to power, we had just 1,900 megawatts, when he was leaving in 2007, he increased it to over 4,000 megawatts, but today, six year after, Nigeria is still battling with the same 4,000 megawatts.

We have close to 400,000 policemen in Nigeria today but the level of insecurity is more dangerous than it was in 2000 when Obasanjo first gave approval for mass recruitment into the police. But, how can there ever be adequate security when policemen are washing cars for big men and carrying bags for their wives?

...this is certainly not police duties but house boy and house girl work!

Budget Defence: CBN Overshot Its 2013 Estimates By N326bn -

BY SEBASTINE OBASI & MICHAEL EBOH
ABUJA — Deputy Governor in charge of Corporate Services, Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Suleiman Barau, yesterday said that the apex bank overshot its 2013 budget by over N326 billion.
Barau made the revelation while defending the 2014 budget of the CBN before the House of Representatives Committee on Banking and Currency.
According to Barau, CBN budgeted N413,373.89 billion as its expenditure for 2013 but ended up spending N739,640.63 billion.
However, in a bid to justify the excess expenditure, Barau also told the committee that the money was spent on “liquidity management” of the country’s economy.
The bank, according to the budget performance presentation earmarked N180 billion for “liquidity management?” but ended up spending N536.6 billion.
Other highlights of the 2013 budget showed that total income to CBN amounted to N600,533.65 billion, while interest on foreign investments amounted to N80,175.29 billion; interest on domestic investments, N388,208.58 billion, just as interest on domestic loans and advances amounted to about N13,540.45 billion. Others were placed at N118,609.33 billion.
Meanwhile, the CBN in its 2014 budget projected N553 billion as income while N377.9 billion was the expected expenditure.
In his comments, the Chairman of the Committee on Banking and Currency, Jones Onyereri ordered the bank to present the comprehensive nominal rolls of all its staff to the committee.
He also demanded the “administrative expenses” by the banks in its 2013 budget which indicated that member subscription, subvention and donation cost N1.8 billion, Corporate Affairs and Recreation/Sport sponsorship/NYSC, nation expenses cost N495.5 billion.
CBN stated that it currently has 661 staff on its payroll.

$10m Plan To Save World's Rarest Gorilla In Nigeria

The world’s rarest gorilla, which is believed to be down to less than 300 remaining individuals, can be saved with a $10.5m action plan, conservationists say.

The Cross River gorilla (Gorilla gorilla diehli) lives in a hilly rainforest area around 12,000 sq km in size along the Nigeria-Cameroon border, regarded as a globally significant “biodiversity hotspot.” It is the rarest of four gorilla sub-species and is listed as critically endangered.

But experts at the Wildlife Conservation Society believe its population could remain stable and even increase if a new five-year plan is put into place to protect it from poachers who hunt it for bushmeat, and habitat loss as land is turned over to farming.

The plan says that levels of poaching in the past may have been underestimated, and that the forest it lives in is becoming increasingly fragmented, as trees are cleared for farming, particularly in Nigeria.

“With such a small population, the loss of even a few individuals each year represents a very serious threat to their long-term survival,” the report says.

The plan for 2014-2019 calls for more research into the gorillas’ distribution, more local-led conservation efforts, monitoring of disease, ecotourism developments, and safeguarding of ‘corridors’ between the species’ main sites.

The species has shorter palates than other gorillas, and short, strong jaws, which ecologists believe may be because they feed on tough tree bark during dry seasons.

“The outlook for the Cross River gorilla is encouraging, provided we build on past successes and continue with key partnerships to protect this great ape and its remaining habitat,” said Andrew Dunn, lead author of the report.

1. Green Monkey – $16,000,000
If you thought that this is the world’s most expensive
monkey, think again. The Green Monkey is actually a
horse. This race horse was purchased by Demi
O’Byrne at the Calder Race Course while it was still a
2-year old. With its descendants being Kentucky Derby
champions, it only made sense that the auction winner
had high hopes for the horse. Unfortunately, a race
has never been won by this multi-million dollar animal.
It retired officially on the 12 of February, 2008. Being
worth $16,000,000, there is no denying the fact that
Green Monkey gets the top rank in this list of the 10
most expensive animals known today.

Amazing Story of a Prostitute and a Scholar

It was 2005 in Jeddah, I had just finished classes with Shaykh Abdullah al-Jibreen rahimahullah ta'ala and I was walking to the bus stand for the purpose of leaving to Makkah (Umm ul-Qura). As i got closer to the bus stop, i heard some heckling noises and the screech of a woman. I saw some youths who seemed my age running and making fun of a niqabi woman. And from her screech i knew it was out of pain of being rediculed. I was angered at what i saw and made haste towards them.

I angrily inquired as to what was going on. The youth replied as saying that this woman was a prostitute and she frequents this area and that they were chasing her away. I exclaimed that i did not see them chasing her away, rather what i witnessed was them teasing her and making fun of her. They were trying to justify their actions.

I told the youth "By Allah, this womans heart may be better in the sight of Allah than mine or yours!, what makes you this judgemental and so satanic? Fear Allah Azza wa Jal and dont heckle and make fun of people, what if Allah were to grant you wives and daughters who turned out this way! Subhanallah brothers Fear Allah please." The youth saught forgiveness from the woman and they appologied and left.

The woman told me that she did not mean to do these things but circumstances have pushed her to do so. I advised her to Fear Allah and repent to Him. He Loves when His Slaves repent and He Forgives all sins. I told her that it is from your choice that you are doing this evil (i.e. Zina) and that the monies you are earning is all fire. Your feeding your family and yourself fire! So Fear Allah and repent and do a halal livelihood so that Allah will grant you His Blessings. I didnt wait for her response, I left.

When i completed todays class, a woman approached me while i was still seated on the chair with the students and she said to me whether I remembered her. I said that I dont move with women nor do i see their faces so im sorry you must be mistaken. She said, "no shaykh, you were the one who defended me from those youth in Jeddah, from the time you told me those words, i changed my life and i had to go through much difficulties but i never resorted to haram means. I have a son now with my husband and we are happy." I said MashaAllah, Alhamdulillah that she amended her ways. She further said "when you left and i saw you board the bus, i made dua to Allah that He should make you a wise scholar and make you a graduate in makkah or madeenah and make you a person who helps others always". When she said these words i was stunned, shocked! My head being downcast tears whelling up in my eyes. Allah Azza wa Jal had answered the dua of the zani (prostitute)!

Never judge another persons situation and redicule and say bad things for indeed we do not know what is in their hearts. Their hearts may be purer than ours, we need to kindly advise them to what is rightous and good. With kind advise, a zani became a salihah by the Grace of Allah.

The campaign against insurgents in the North-East intensified with the capture of a top leader of Boko Haram and the killing of about 70 insurgents at the sect’s stronghold in Gwoza Hills, Borno State.

Saturday PUNCH investigations revealed that the leader was arrested on Thursday evening while he was trying to flee the bombarded Gwoza Hills with some black Toyota Land Cruiser sports utility vehicle in his escort.

It was learnt that the Special Forces captured him alive and flew him immediately out of Borno State to Abuja for interrogation in one of the military formations in Abuja.

A source, who confided in our correspondent, said that the arrest of the man suspected to be one of the topmost commanders of the sect (if not the leader), had triggered anxiety among security agents in Borno State.

Security officials were of the view that the captured Boko Haram leader might be a very key person to the operation of the sect for him to have such a massive and luxurious escort comprising Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles.

The source said, “On Thursday, soldiers arrested a top member of the Boko Haram around the Gwoza Hills after the battle of Wednesday night when troop took over the hills.

“The Boko Haram member must be a very high ranking member of the group if not the head because he had several Toyota Land Cruiser jeeps in his escort when he was captured.

“Another thing is that they didn’t want anybody to know his identity; the commanders immediately flew the man to Abuja; as we are talking, the man is being interrogated there. A highly placed security source confirmed the arrest of the Boko Haram leader but would not make any further comment on the issue.

Investigations further revealed that troops killed over 70 insurgents at Bita community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State and Bama headquarters of Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

The insurgents were said to have been killed in two different gun duels with troops at Bita and Bama where Armoured Personnel Carriers and military tanks were fully deployed for the combat on Thursday.

Investigation revealed that the soldiers attacked the insurgents when they were moving to launch an attack on Bita community a day after troops overran their Gwoza Hills enclave on Wednesday.

The source said that some soldiers sustained gunshot wounds and were being treated at a hospital in Maiduguri. It was learnt that some other insurgents were killed also on Thursday evening on their way to Bama after the first encounter which resulted in the killing of over 40 members of the sect.

It was gathered that the special forces waited for the convoy of the insurgents on their way to Bama when an intelligence report was received that they (the insurgents) were on their way to launch another attack in Bama.

A security source said that the insurgents were moving in 15 trucks loaded with fighters when they ran into the ambush of the troops.

The source said that the troops destroyed seven of the trucks which caught fire and killed about 30 of the insurgents.”

However, it was stated that the insurgents escaped with eight of the vehicles in the convoy.

When our correspondent contacted the Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, he confirmed the deployment of APCs and military tanks but asked to be given more time to confirm the capture of the Boko Haram commander and those killed in the two battles.

“That APCs and military tanks were deployed is no news but you have to give me some time to confirm this story from the relevant places,” he said.

However, Olukolade said that the troops arrested a middle-aged Cameroonian who served as the arms courier for the sect.

He said that the arrest of the Cameroonian led to the discovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition which was hidden in the premises of a burnt church.

Olukolade said that weapons recovered from the insurgents in the premises of the church in Kalabalge Local Government Area of Borno State included anti-aircraft guns, rocket-propelled guns, other brands of machine guns and thousands of various calibres of rounds of ammunition.

He said that the Cameroonian led troops on a cordon and search operation to a hideout where a terrorist was captured. He was silent on the rank of this particular terrorist whose singular arrest featured in his news statement.
Mocheddah held alot of promises in the Nigerian music industry in 2010. She released her debut album ''Franchise Celebrity '' with 2 hit singles Koma Roll & If You want me, bagged an MTV Award for BEST NEW ACT & Channel O Music Award. She did some collabos around Africa and the continent was watching out for her as the NEXT POP SUPERSTAR. The sky was her starting point and her music career was booming. All these were made possible by her label KNIGHTHOUSE.
During that time, Mocheddah was arguably the biggest female artiste in Nigeria. Tiwa Savage was still upcoming likewise Wizkid. In 2011, she released another hit single SEE ME ft Phenom which rocked the airwaves in Nigeria & around Africa. And her market started selling seriously. After this, she seemed to disappear from the industry. Then came 2012 when we started hearing rumours that Mocheddah has parted ways with Knighthouse her record label. The rumour became a reality cos she truly left and established her own label CHEDDAH MUSIC. This move started her decline in the industry cos she shot herself in the foot. Being a CEO of a record label and an artiste at the same time wasn't easy.
She went ahead to release 3 singles after being away from the industry for so long. She shot the video for LOUDER, one of the singles but lo and behold both the classy video and the singles did not do well in the market because it seems fans have started to sleep on her by then. The reason being that when she left the industry for a while, Tiwa Savage came back from America and claimed the throne from her as NIGERIA'S QUEEN OF POP. And she amassed so much fans that Mocheddah's original fans started forgetting her. Cos during Mocheddah's exit, Nigeria was lacking a POWER FEMALE ARTISTE and Tiwa Savage came at the right time.
In September 2012, Mocheddah made another attempt at breaking into Mainstream Music in Nigeria by releasing another single COMING FOR YOU ft May D. The song did relatively well but since there was no video for it, it fizzled out. Since then, Mocheddah seems to have gone into oblivion. Nothing was heard about her in the music industry again.
Personally I think Mocheddah made a very big mistake by leaving Knighthouse Record. Though I didn't know what caused the separation, but I think she should have stayed for the sake of her career. By now, she would have been so BIG in the Industry. I guess other upcoming artistes should learn from her story.
